Markstein Hall

College of Business Administration

California State University, San Marcos

San Marcos, California

Markstein Hall at California State University, San Marcos accommodates a variety of teaching pedagogies. The building's components include state-of-the-art teaching environments from multi-sized, tiered caserooms to flexible flat-floor classrooms. Faculty and administrative offices as well as academic centers are located in the dynamic curved form, giving a unique identity to the College of Business Administration. The architectural character of the building was designed to be compatible with the established "Italian hill town" motif of the campus.

AC Martin's services for this 40,000-ASF and 61,000-GSF building included: a feasibility study and pre-schematic design; programming; an adjacency analysis via block and stack diagrams; a site analysis of the complex sloping site; and conceptual building floor plans along with detailed room-by-room data sheets that defined the special function requirements of the building.
