The Wilshire Grand Project will be an iconic addition to the visual character of the downtown Los Angeles skyline and to the renaissance of downtown Los Angeles.
The hotel/office tower is configured to maximize views of Santa Monica, the Pacific Ocean and LA’s acclaimed sunsets to the southwest and the Hollywood Hills and the San Gabriel Mountains to the north, particularly breathtaking during the clear winter months. The vistas from hotel rooms and office space will be spectacular both day and night with floor-to-ceiling glass to take full advantage of views and allowing the spaces to be filled with natural light. This will be the first significant building in Los Angeles to have this feature. From an external point of view, this plays well as the Wilshire Grand is literally surrounded by existing buildings that are composed of granite with inset windows. This more glassy expression will portray the building as being “of our time,” a unique contrast to its neighbors.
The building incorporates efficiencies; a large multi-use project defined by modularity, repetition and flexibility
to change over time. This relates to the initial and long-term uses, ease of maintenance and lower annual operating
costs, resulting in a long-term value for return on investment.
The Project responds to the Los Angeles culture and climate with an open, energetic environment where indoor/outdoor relationships are created at every practical opportunity.
Amenities consist of unparalleled access to light and air for all office tenants, hotel guests and visitors; a dramatic
and lively urban open space; and indoor and outdoor cafes, restaurants, and bars.
Numerous hospitality experiences that relate to Los Angeles as a destination are explored. These include such ideas as: a gracious and auto-centric porte-cochere, recreational space that relates to the outdoors, and landscape environments and public spaces that are at-home with the city’s casual lifestyle.
The building takes advantage of its location in the city where the Wilshire Grand address continues to unfold as the
center of activity and as a lively urban center. The landscaping and open, friendly urban spaces connect to rather than stand away from the urban fabric.
