Mirador wins the SCANPH 2026 Homes Within Reach Senior Housing Development of the Year Award

On October 7, 2026, Mirador took home SCANPH's Homes Within Reach Senior Housing Development of the Year Award. The AC Martin team joined developer Affirmed Housing to celebrate the win. This award recognizes a noteworthy development that admirably serves the needs of the senior population. The Homes Within Reach Awards honor excellence in the affordable housing industry, and celebrates exceptional individuals, organizations, and projects within the SCANPH region. Award recipients exemplify an unwavering commitment to affordable housing and align with SCANPH’s vision of strong Southern California communities, where an affordable home is available to everyone.

Mirador is a 71-unit affordable permanent supportive senior housing community in Altadena, California, serving low-income and formerly unhoused residents age 55+. Though the January 2025 wildfire devastated the Altadena neighborhood, the non-combustable exterior helped save the building—making it a symbol of hope and resilience. The project includes 38 studio apartments, 32 one-bedroom apartments, and one two-bedroom manager’s unit, along with indoor and outdoor community spaces designed to support resident wellness and connection. Amenities include a community room, computer room, community kitchen, landscaped podium terrace, laundry facilities, bicycle storage, and on-site supportive services, including intensive case management focused on long-term housing stability and self-sufficiency. The five-story building draws inspiration from Altadena’s Craftsman and Mid-Century Modern character through warm material tones, horizontal architectural expression, and concrete breeze block detailing that help the project feel integrated within the surrounding neighborhood.
