Esperanza Village Ground Breaking

AC Martin joined National CORE, Prima Development, Los Angeles County, the City of El Monte, and community partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of Esperanza Village on September 2, 2026. The milestone was marked alongside the grand opening of the adjacent Hilda L. Solis Community Park.

Designed by AC Martin and developed by National CORE and Prima Development, Esperanza Village will bring 202 affordable homes to El Monte. The community will include a three-story building with 102 apartments for families and a second three-story building with 100 apartments for seniors ages 62 and older. Homes will serve households earning between 30% and 70% of the area median income. Of the 202 apartments, 154 will provide supportive housing for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and survivors of domestic violence. Supportive housing within the family building will also serve transitional-age youth.

A mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments will accommodate residents at different stages of life. Each residential building will feature a landscaped courtyard, community room, bicycle storage, lounge areas, and other shared amenities designed to encourage connection and support residents’ well-being. Esperanza Village will sit beside the newly opened Hilda L. Solis Community Park at Gilman Road and Durfee Avenue. The park includes a soccer field, basketball and tennis courts, a children’s play area, walking paths, and community gathering spaces—extending opportunities for recreation and connection beyond the residential community.

The development transforms a portion of the former MacLaren Hall site into a community centered on housing stability, health, recreation, and opportunity.
