A literature review of the research conducted to date on learning space design in the higher education setting. The focus of this research was three-fold: 1) the identification, gathering and cataloging of research-based information on how the physical design of learning spaces affects the educational outcome; 2) the identification, gathering and cataloging of research-based information on how the campus as a whole affects the learning mission of the institution; and 3) the evaluation of these existing bodies of research and direction for future research.
