Affordable Housing Project Topped Out

The Brine, a new 100% affordable housing mixed-use project in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of East Los Angeles has topped out. The project will include 97 units of affordable and permanent supportive housing, as well as commercial space, medical offices, facilities for social services, and a market. New Milestone at Chico State

A topping out ceremony took place on May 22, 2023 at Chico State for the new College of Behavioral and Social Services building. This 94,000 square foot building will be the first net zero energy building on the campus and the third in the CSU system. AC Martin is pleased to announce the New Natural Resources Headquarters is the winner of the prestigious 2023 Green GOOD DESIGN Sustainability Award.

This honor is awarded by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. The Green GOOD DESIGN identifies and emphasizes the world’s most important examples of sustainable design to develop a public awareness about the global companies that are creating the best ecological and sustainable design for our world environments.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the Autodesk Technology Engagement Center took place at California State University, Northridge on April 14, 2023.

Burke Bair

Burke brings 25 years of professional experience in residential and commercial architecture throughout California, Arizona, Utah, and Idaho with design expertise in rental apartments, infill development, small lot cluster homes, townhomes, and single-family development. His expertise lies in business development, contracts, budgeting, design, and project management. Burke received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management from the University of Phoenix.

Bee Rarewala

As CSO, Bee drives business growth through vision-led, strategic planning and acts as a change agent for firmwide transformation. She facilitates key initiatives and investments, drives continuous improvement, and oversees business development strategy, marketing, and communications for the firm. Bee has centered her 20-plus-year career at the nexus of design thinking and business strategy with a passion for developing the next generation of talent and cultivating a culture responsive to both. She mentors students and professionals, and currently serves on several industry boards.

AC Martin welcomed Dr. Pablo La Roche to present “Low Carbon & Regenerative Design” as part of Environmental Awareness Month events organized by our Sustainability Committee. Dr. La Roche is Professor of Architecture at Cal Poly Pomona and recently was the interim Director of the Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies. AC Martin’s sustainability committee kicked off Environmental Awareness Month by welcoming Dr. Eric Carbonnier, Associate Professor & Chair of Sustainable Practices Program at Woodbury University, for an in-person (and virtual for our Northern California offices) lunch and learn presentation. Dr. Carbon, as he is referred to by his students, presented “Social Contract with Nature and Humanity.” We reviewed topics including the restorative theory, biomimicry, and our social contract with nature.

Autodesk Technology Engagement Center

The Autodesk Technology Engagement Center will focus on closing equity gaps in STEM degree pathways and inspiring historically underrepresented minorities in STEM to pursue high-demand careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The center will house academic programs for the College of Engineering and Computer Science, and the Global Hispanic Serving Institution Equity Innovation Hub. AC Martin is proud to have designed this very important project that will positively impact the future of students. Groundbreaking for the project is April 14, 2023.
